We visited our Deputy Minesters of Culture and Tourism, Batuhan MUMCU, Gökhan YAZGI ve Nadir ALPASLAN

Together with leading representatives of civil society organizations in Cappadocia, we met with our Deputy Ministers of Culture and Tourism, Batuhan Mumcu, Gökhan Yazgı, and Nadir Alpaslan. During our visit, we informed them about the preparation process of the Cappadocia Biennial, an international contemporary art event that will be realized for the first time in Cappadocia.

We held a productive meeting in which we evaluated Cappadocia’s cultural heritage, its artistic vision, and potential areas of collaboration for the region’s future. We also discussed the scope and objectives of the biennial, as well as the steps to be taken to strengthen Cappadocia’s position on international art platforms.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude and respect to the Deputy Ministers for their kind reception and their support for the Cappadocia Biennial.

We hope that the Cappadocia Biennial will be beneficial both for the region and for our country.

The meeting was attended by Enes KAYA, Director of the Cappadocia Biennial; Murat YAVUZ; Mustafa ERTAŞ, President of NESİAD; Gamze TOYBIYIK KAYA, Secretary General of KAPYAD; Burcu NUMANOĞLU, Member of the Board of KAPYAD; and Fatih KILINÇ, Cappadocia Biennial Representative in Nevşehir.

The Cappadocia Biennial, which will take place between May 7 and September 3, 2026, will meet art enthusiasts at various locations across the region, primarily in Göreme, Ürgüp, Avanos, Uçhisar, Ortahisar, and Kayaşehir. Bringing together multiple disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, performance, and film, the biennial will create a broad field of interaction with the participation of international artists. Held under the theme “BIRTH,” the biennial aims to go beyond being merely an aesthetic art event by revealing the potential of art to generate solutions to social and global challenges. Centering on the idea of “starting anew” in the face of disasters, wars, and economic hardships, the event will highlight the healing and unifying power of art. By bringing together Cappadocia’s unique natural and historical texture with contemporary art, the biennial is expected to make a significant contribution to the region’s cultural tourism and to enhance its visibility on an international scale.
